Title IX
CCOM's policy on sex-based discrimination, sexual harassment, and sexual misconduct — and how to report a concern.
Nondiscrimination statement
Chicago College of Oriental Medicine does not discriminate on the basis of sex in its education programs or activities. This prohibition includes admission and employment. Sex discrimination encompasses sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking. Inquiries about the application of Title IX may be referred to CCOM’s Title IX Coordinator, to the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, or both.
Title IX Coordinator
The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for overseeing CCOM’s response to all reports of sex discrimination, coordinating grievance procedures, and ensuring compliance with Title IX and its implementing regulations.

How to report
Anyone who believes they have experienced or witnessed sex discrimination, sexual harassment, or sexual misconduct at CCOM is encouraged to report the conduct to the Title IX Coordinator listed above. Reports may be made:
- In person at the office address above
- By phone at 312-368-0900
- By email at info@ccom.edu
Reports may also be made directly to the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights: ocrcas.ed.gov or 800-421-3481.
You are not required to report to CCOM before going to OCR, and you may contact both simultaneously.
Confidentiality
CCOM will keep reports as confidential as possible consistent with its legal obligations. In some circumstances, the Title IX Coordinator may be required to take action to address a reported concern even if the reporting party requests confidentiality.

Grievance procedures
CCOM investigates all formal complaints under a grievance procedure that includes:
- Written notice to the parties with sufficient time to prepare a response
- An objective, trained investigator who does not have a conflict of interest
- Written determination of responsibility with an explanation of the findings
- The right to appeal the determination
